During the latter part of our 2017 trip to Alonnisos I learned that a young man named Dimitris was producing and selling raw honey on the island. So, I made a point of stopping by the little shop where he sells his Alonissos Raw Honey Royal Jelly and met him one evening. We had a great conversation and I was immediately impressed with him, as his sincere desire to produce the highest quality honey possible was very obvious. I bought a 500g jar that night and then enjoyed having it on my Greek yoghurt the next morning, and every day after until the jar was finished – it took only a week! The honey is simply awesome, and the price is reasonable given its very high quality.
Known as “the harvester,” Dimitrios is a wonderful person who is, of course, exceptionally knowledgeable about the many benefits of consuming raw honey. For those who visit Alonnisos regularly as well as those planning to come to the island, during your stay make sure you purchase some. His small shop is located in the Old Village, just a few meters to the right (north) of the plateia beyond the small church there.
